NAUI Open Water Scuba Diver Certification

There are 3 sections to the NAUI Open Water Scuba Diver Certification Program and passing all of them is required to earn your NAUI Open Water Scuba Diver Certification.

 1. Academic

As with any certification program you will need to acquire a basic understanding and general knowledge about SCUBA before you can begin your confined and open water training portions of the course. We use the comprehensive NAUI Education System (NES) which can be accessed and completed online at your convenience. This award-winning NAUI system exceeds all other training programs on the market. Our overall training program, different than any other dive centers, includes the Nitrox Diver course at no additional charge, a savings of $200. Our program is the most complete format on the market providing you with the best learning experience possible.

  1. NAUI Digital Premier NES includes all the academic training materials that you will need to complete both the NAUI Open Water Scuba Diver course and the NAUI Nitrox diver course. The products listed below will help increase your potential for learning.

A passing test grade of 90% is required to pass the final exam. All final exams can be scheduled for most Saturday afternoons and testing starts at 4pm. Late arrivals will need to reschedule their testing, which may affect their ability to participate in your chosen Confined Water Training session. A practice final exam and quizzes are part of your academic online training.

2. Confined Water Training.

This is both the most fun and most important part of your training program. You will start with a 2-3-hour orientation and fitting at our store. You will be fitted with the appropriately sized rental equipment for use in the pool including a full wetsuit and BCD (Buoyancy Control Device). You will also have a chance to be fitted for, and purchase, your personal snorkeling equipment needed for the course. In the confined water training portion of the course, you will complete approximately 12 hours of in water training over 6 sessions. These are about 2 hours per session and take place in a pool or pool like environment. Here you will learn to handle and use the scuba equipment properly and safely as well as the skills needed to safely enjoy your time underwater. Confined water training is either held 1x or 2x per week and participants are required to attend all the confined water sessions. Please call us to see what schedule will best fit your needs or email us what days are best for you. We will work to put together an appropriate schedule for your training.

*Please also note that a medical form signed by your physician or physicians is required before the start of the confined water portion of the course to make sure that you are medically fit to participate in scuba diving activities. We require a signature no matter the answers you give on the form itself and we reserve the right to disqualify you from confined water/open water training due to medical concerns. Please check with us if you have any concerns about medical conditions that you may have.
